
Stock Item
The Stock Item object represents the physical inventory of a Product in Cloudy Inventory and is the core object responsible for managing warehouse inventory. While the Product defines the master product information, the Stock Item stores inventory-specific details such as warehouse assignment, pricing, inventory tracking, serial numbers, lot numbers, barcode configuration, dimensions, tax settings, and inventory valuation.
Each Product can have one or multiple Stock Items depending on different warehouses, vendors, packaging, units of measurement, or inventory configurations. Stock Items are used throughout procurement, warehouse management, manufacturing, order fulfillment, and inventory transactions to ensure accurate inventory visibility and traceability.
Once created, a Stock Item can be associated with Purchase Orders, Goods Receipts, Inventory, Inventory Transactions, Bill of Materials (BOM), Production Batches, Orders, Shipments, Returns, and other warehouse operations.

In Cloudy Inventory, the Stock Item object represents the physical inventory of a Product stored within a warehouse.
While the Product defines the business information, the Stock Item manages operational inventory details such as inventory tracking, warehouse allocation, stock availability, purchase price, barcode, serial numbers, lot numbers, expiry dates, dimensions, and inventory valuation.
A single Product can have multiple Stock Items to support different warehouses, vendors, packaging configurations, or inventory management requirements.

Example Business Scenario
Scenario: Managing Inventory for Maruti Dzire
ABC Automotive Pvt. Ltd. manufactures and sells Sedan Cars. The company has already created the Product record named Sedan Car. To manage the physical inventory of this product, the warehouse team creates a Stock Item named Maruti Dzire.
The Stock Item is configured with the following details:
- Product: Sedan Car
- Stock Item: Maruti Dzire
- Stock Code: STK-MDZ-001
- Warehouse: Central Warehouse

System Behaviour :
Once the Stock Item is created:
- The Maruti Dzire Stock Item becomes available for procurement, warehouse, manufacturing, and sales operations.
- Goods Receipts automatically increase the inventory quantity of the Maruti Dzire Stock Item.
- The Default Stock Item (Maruti Dzire) is automatically selected whenever the Sedan Car Product is added to Purchase Orders, Orders, Bill of Materials (BOM), or Production Batches.
- Inventory quantities are automatically updated whenever stock is received, transferred, allocated, issued, or delivered.
- Each manufactured vehicle can be tracked using a unique Serial Number.
- Barcode and QR Code enable quick warehouse scanning and inventory verification.
- Every inventory movement automatically creates an Inventory Transaction record, ensuring complete stock traceability.
