Unit of Measurement
The Unit of Measurement (UoM) object in Cloudy Business Ops 360 is used to standardize and manage measurement units across items, inventory, and transactions. UoMs define how quantities are measured, stored, and transacted — whether in pieces, kilograms, liters, boxes, or any other unit.
By using UoMs, organizations ensure consistent measurement conversions across purchasing, selling, inventory management, and reporting.
Use of Unit of Measurement in Cloudy Business Ops 360
The Unit of Measurement object helps businesses:
- Standardize Quantity Representation: Avoid confusion by using a consistent measurement system across all operations.
- Enable Automatic Conversion: Convert quantities between base and alternate units (e.g., convert 1 Box = 12 Pieces).
- Support Multiple Business Scenarios: Define units for purchasing, stocking, and selling items differently if needed.
- Improve Accuracy in Inventory Tracking: Ensure correct stock levels and cost calculations by aligning on a standard base unit.

Example Business Scenario
Scenario:
Your company sells beverages by Carton (24 bottles per carton) and tracks inventory by Bottle.
- Base Unit: Bottle ✅
- Alternate Unit: Carton (Conversion Factor = 24)
Outcome:
When a user enters “10 Cartons” on a sales order, the system automatically converts it into “240 Bottles” for inventory deduction and cost calculation, ensuring consistency.
