Bundle Item
A Bundle Item represents an individual product or service within a Bundle in Salesforce CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote). While a Bundle groups multiple items together as a package, a Bundle Item defines the details, pricing, and configuration of each product in that package.
In Cloudy Business Ops 360, Bundle Items allow sales teams to manage complex bundles with flexibility in pricing, discounts, quantities, and variants.
Use Cases in Cloudy Business Ops 360
- Configuring Complex Bundles:
Example: A “Laptop Bundle” may include the laptop, charger, and warranty. Each of these is a Bundle Item, with individual prices, discounts, and quantity settings. - Editable Pricing for Negotiations:
The List Price Editable and Trade Discount Editable fields allow sales reps to adjust pricing during negotiation while maintaining control over which fields are editable. - Hierarchical Items:
Use Parent Bundle Items for optional or dependent items. Example: A software license might have optional add-ons as child bundle items. - Variant Management:
The Item Variant field allows selection of specific models, configurations, or versions of the item within the bundle. - Price Calculations:
Unit Price, Quantity, Discount %, and Sell Price collectively calculate the total price of the bundle automatically, ensuring accurate quoting.
Example Scenario
- A Sales Rep configures a “Corporate Laptop Bundle”:
- Bundle Items: Laptop, Extended Warranty, Docking Station
- Each item has its own List Price, optional Discount, and Quantity
- Optional items (e.g., Docking Station) are set as child items using Parent Bundle Item
- Final Sell Price is automatically calculated based on individual items and discounts
- Bundle Items: Laptop, Extended Warranty, Docking Station
Best Practices
- Activate only required bundle items using the Active? checkbox.
- Use Parent Bundle Items for optional or dependent items to maintain a clear hierarchy.
- Link each item to the correct Price List to ensure accurate pricing.
- Keep List Price and Unit Price updated to reflect current market rates.
- Use Item Variant to allow flexibility without creating multiple bundles for similar products.
